International Court of Justice (ICJ)

Topic: Sovereignty over Pedra Branca/Pulau Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge (Malaysia/Singapore)

Cluster C, Advanced Committee, Sixth Form

Head Chair: Nilton Aranda Neto

Hi Everyone, I'm Nilton. I will be your Head Chair for YouthMUN's ICJ committee this year. As I pretend to be a Biochemistry Student when my passion must be clearly international law I get up to all sorts of shenanigans. Currently, I am in France for a year working as a Scientist in Structural Biology and this is part of a 4-year Bachelors Biochemistry Programme at Queen Mary. Recently I have occupied myself with numerous hobbies, climbing, cooking (mainly for sustenance), and going to sleep too much during the day. I am also learning French although I must admit, not particularly well. I look forward to meeting you all come the conference, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Dias via the committee email on the YouthMUN website.

Deputy Chair: Iryna Moskalenko

Hello, my name is Iryna and I'm currently in my first year studying Law at SOAS. My mun journey began last year at university where I discovered and delegated in the legal committees, and have become my favourite ever since (which actually inspired me to change my degree to Law). However, politics and debate still hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to bring the same love and excitement I have for mun and the courts to the conference. Outside of mun you will either find me grinding away at one of my readings, learning new languages or watching an old movie.

Deputy Chair: Olivia Kao

Hi everyone! My name is Olivia, and I will be serving as the Deputy Chair for the International Court of Justice. I am currently in my first year at UCL studying Politics and International Relations. I am a First Year Representative for UCL's United Nations Association, and this is my first year participating in Model UN.

Apart from Model UN, I also spend time writing under the Humour and Satire section of UCL's Cheese Grater Magazine where I try to be funny and get some laughs out of my friends. I am super excited to be y'all's chair (I'm from Texas, don't judge), and I am looking forward to seeing all of you in March.
