Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL)
Topic: Addressing the Rights of Indigenous Populations in the Americas
Cluster B, Beginner Committee, open to all years
Hi everyone! I’m Laureen and I am a 2nd year Politics and IR student at QMUL. I really enjoy doing MUN and look forward to sharing that with you all! I have an odd taste for conspiracy theories and am always up for a discussion on them, or, of course about anything else :D.
Co-Chair: Laureen Raheel
Hi! I’m Carolina, your Co-chair. I’m a Politics and International Relations student, MUN enthusiast, and cheese lover. When I’m not overthinking about international crises, I’m probably overthinking on what snack to have next or if I turned the oven off before leaving the house. I’m excited to see what this committee is capable of doing. Let the chaos begin.
Co-Chair: Carolina Marques
Assistant Chair: Penelope Pelling
My name is Penelope and I am in Year 13. I am studying English Literature, French, Spanish, and Politics at A-Level. I have been doing MUN since Year 8, attending conferences as a delegate in a wide range of committees from Environment to SPECPOL to Security Council. I also was Assistant Chair for the Arab League at LYMUN 2025. I am going to study French and Spanish at university, and then pursue a career in international relations or law. I hope to continue with my passion for MUN beyond school.
Outside of MUN, I enjoy reading and playing the piano and the trombone.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having an enriching and entertaining conference!
